NHL playoffs 2010

This site is currently about the previous year's playoffs - it will be updated with content for the 2010 playoffs by March 1, 2010

The 2009-2010 regular season has ended on April 12, 2010 and we're already past the quarterfinals. The Canucks' 5-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks marked the start of the conference semifinals on April 30, 2010.

The 2008–09 NHL season is the 91st season of the National Hockey League. It runs from October 4, 2008 through April 12, 2010, with the Stanley Cup playoffs to follow, ending in June 2010. This is the first season since prior to the 2004–05 lockout in which every team will play each other at least once during the season, following three seasons where teams only played against two divisions in the other conference.

With the playoffs fast approaching there are many exciting games and events outside the rinks that keep hockey fans glued to their TVs. Which teams are going to make it to the playoffs? Will the Canadians be a threat to US teams? How to get tickets to the games? What are the "exact" rules anyways?

Interesting website stats: roughly 1% of people living in Canada has visited the NHL Playoffs 2010 site since April 1, 2010 (~32,000 visits) compared to approximately 0.01% of the US population (~37,000 visits) despite the fact that only 3 out of 16 teams in the quarterfinals were Canadian and only 1 out of the 8 teams in the semifinals are from north of the border. This means that hockey in Canada is about ten times more popular as in the United States! It's only fair to mention that on the other hand, our sister site, NBA playoffs 2009, has received over 40 times more hits from the US than Canada.

For those visitos who are new to the game but want to get involved, here are some basics about the NHL: The NHL Playoffs also called the Stanley Cup Playoffs is a hockey tournament played in the National Hockey League between the best teams during regular season matches.

The league was founded Montreal with only 4 teams. After many changes to rules, regulations and new teams joining the competition, the league currently consists of 30 teams - 6 in Canada and the rest in the States. After the cancellation of the 2004-2005 season (over labour issues), everything's back to normal and the games are more exciting than ever.
